Syracuse, N.Y. — In a decisive conclusion to their nonconference season, the Syracuse Orange triumphed over Bucknell with a score of 75-63 on Saturday, with standout performances from Eddie Lampkin Jr. and Donnie Freeman. Both players achieved double-doubles, while Jaquan Carlos impressed with a near double-double of his own, falling just one assist short. This victory improved Syracuse’s record to 6-6, marking their sixth win in seven home games, while Bucknell, now at 4-9, faced their seventh consecutive defeat. Following a setback against Notre Dame in their Atlantic Coast Conference opener, Syracuse wrapped up their nonconference fixtures with a 6-5 record.

In the first half, Lampkin and Freeman were instrumental in setting the pace, combining for 24 points and dominating the boards, outrebounding the Bison 18-11. Despite Bucknell’s Pip Ajayi narrowing the gap to five points with a dunk early in the second half, the Orange quickly responded. Elvin Edmonds IV’s missed three-point attempt prevented Bucknell from closing in further, allowing Lampkin to extend Syracuse’s lead. Following back-to-back baskets from Kyle Cuffe Jr., Carlos added a layup, reclaiming a comfortable 12-point advantage at 56-44.

Lampkin concluded the game with 18 points and 11 rebounds, while Freeman contributed with 15 points, 11 boards, and three assists, complemented by a steal. Carlos also stood out with 11 points, nine assists, and three steals, contributing to Syracuse’s dominance on the boards with a total of 43 rebounds compared to Bucknell’s 27.

For Bucknell, John Bascoe emerged as the leading scorer with 22 points, successfully sinking six of his eleven attempts from beyond the arc. Teammate Noah Williamson added 12 points and secured eight rebounds.

Looking ahead, Syracuse is poised to kick off the crucial portion of their ACC schedule against Wake Forest on New Year’s Eve, while Bucknell will begin their Patriot League journey on January 2 against Lehigh.
