Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni and Commanders tight end Zach Ertz recently resolved any misunderstandings that arose after their exchange post the game where Washington triumphed over Philadelphia.
In a video captured during the aftermath of the match, Ertz was seen giving Sirianni a high-five before Sirianni turned back to engage him further. Following this incident, Sirianni made an effort to reach out to Ertz and apologized for any misinterpretation of their interaction, as reported by ESPN.

“I’m going to keep my discussions with players private,” Sirianni commented during a press conference on Thursday. “I have a lot of admiration for Zach. He’s a fantastic athlete and a wonderful person. My respect for him and everything he has accomplished remains high, along with our relationship.”

Ertz, who dedicated over eight seasons to the Eagles, famously secured the key touchdown pass from Nick Foles during the team’s sole Super Bowl victory. In the 2021 season, he was traded to the Arizona Cardinals after playing six games under Sirianni’s coaching.

Reflecting on their past connection, Ertz noted to the media, “Nick and I maintained a strong bond when I was there, and we still do. I think things have been exaggerated quite a bit. We talked it out; there’s no hard feelings from me, nor do I assume there are from him. It was just a moment that was possibly misinterpreted, but we’re on good terms. I have a deep appreciation for my time in Philadelphia, but I also embrace my present here.”

During his time with the Eagles, Ertz was selected for the Pro Bowl three times and etched his name in history by setting a tight end single-season record with 116 catches in 2018 while playing under coach Doug Pederson.

Ertz expressed, “There was no disrespect intended during our high-five. To me, it isn’t worth making a story out of. I haven’t worried about it since Sunday.”
