The national player of the week honor in men’s college basketball for Week 7 has been awarded to Johni Broome of Auburn.
This fifth-year senior, standing at 6 feet 10 inches and weighing 240 pounds, has now claimed the award for the second consecutive week and the third time in just four weeks.
His latest achievement comes following an impressive performance against the then-No. 16 Purdue team, marking his return after an injury scare.

In Auburn’s 18-point victory, Broome put up remarkable stats, contributing 23 points, 11 rebounds, two assists, one block, and one steal.
At one point in the game, the Tigers had a substantial lead of 33 points.
This performance follows a brief exit during a match against Georgia State, where he sustained a shoulder injury only two minutes into the game, raising concerns for a team that has aspirations of reaching the Final Four.
Excluding that brief appearance due to injury, Broome is averaging an impressive 20.0 points and 12.5 rebounds this season.

In the runner-up position is Jeremiah Fears from Oklahoma.
The freshman, standing at 6 feet 4 inches, made significant contributions in a recent neutral-court encounter versus then-No. 24 Michigan during the Jumpman Invitational.
Fears delivered a crucial four-point play with just 11.5 seconds remaining, leading to a narrow 87-86 victory.
He finished that game with a personal season-high of 30 points along with four assists.
Fears continued his strong performance with another 19 points against Central Arkansas, maintaining the Sooners’ unbeaten status as they approach Christmas.
This season, he holds an average of 18.0 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 4.7 assists.

Honorable mentions for this week include Bruce Thornton from Ohio State, Will Richard from Florida, and Jordan Pope from Texas.

A player to keep an eye on is Treysen Eaglestaff of North Dakota.
The junior, 6 feet 6 inches tall, has been delivering impressive performances this year, including a standout showing against then-No. 6 Alabama, where he scored a career-high 40 points.
Eaglestaff achieved this with a shooting percentage of 15-for-30, and an outstanding 8-for-18 from the three-point range, all while logging 35 minutes on the court.
His performance also places him among eight Division I players who have managed to score over 40 points in a game this season.
Over the week, he accumulated 59 points in just 56 minutes of game time, averaging an impressive 20.1 points this season, making him one of 18 Division I players with a scoring average above 20 points.
