MINNEAPOLIS – The Minnesota Timberwolves’ standout player, Anthony Edwards, faced a hefty fine of $75,000 due to his outspoken criticism of the officiating during a recent game. This latest sanction was revealed by the NBA on Monday and marks the second penalty for the young athlete within the month.
Edwards vented his frustrations following the Timberwolves’ 113-103 defeat at home against the Golden State Warriors on Sunday. Just two weeks prior, he received a $25,000 fine for using foul language in a postgame interview after a victory against the same team, although that incident was not specifically about officiating.
During his recent comments, Edwards highlighted his concerns about what he believes is an unfair distribution of foul calls between him and his opponents. He remarked, “I get penalized for being stronger than my opponent. So they give them the benefit of the doubt. They bump me the same way they bump everybody else, and I never get the call. I don’t know what’s got to go down, but something’s got to happen because that is terrible.”
Edwards’ outspoken nature reflects a growing concern among players about consistency in officiating as it remains a hot topic in the league.
