NEWARK, N.J. — On Sunday night, Georgetown secured a narrow victory over Seton Hall with a score of 61-60, thanks to an impressive performance from Thomas Sorber, who contributed 19 points to the Hoyas’ effort.

In addition to his scoring, Sorber also recorded eight rebounds and four blocks, helping Georgetown improve its record to 10-2 overall and 2-0 in the Big East Conference. Fellow teammates made significant contributions as well, with Jayden Epps scoring 15 points, shooting 4 of 11 from the field, including one successful attempt out of five from beyond the arc, and converting 6 of 8 from the free-throw line. Micah Peavy added 10 points, connecting 4 of 10 times from the field and hitting 2 of 3 free throws.

On the other side, Isaiah Coleman emerged as the standout for Seton Hall, finishing with 25 points and grabbing nine rebounds. The Pirates, who fell to 5-8 and 0-2 in conference play, also got solid contributions from Dylan Addae-Wusu, who scored nine points, recorded three steals, and blocked two shots. Chaunce Jenkins matched Addae-Wusu with nine points and added two steals to his performance.

Georgetown led 32-23 at halftime, bolstered by Sorber’s impactful first-half performance, where he scored 13 of his 19 points. Although the Hoyas were outscored by eight points in the second half, they managed to secure the win. Caleb Williams shone in the latter part of the game, scoring eight of his own second-half points.

Williams hit a critical 3-pointer, extending Georgetown’s lead to 61-50 with just under four minutes remaining. The Pirates then called a timeout, during which Coleman converted two free throws, igniting a 10-0 run for his team, capped by a putback basket that brought Seton Hall within striking distance with 36 seconds left. On the following Georgetown possession, Williams missed a layup, and Seton Hall used another timeout to strategize. However, the Hoyas sealed the game when Sorber intercepted the ball as time ran out, preventing the Pirates from getting a last-second shot off.
