ATLANTA — In a significant matchup, Georgia Tech claimed victory over Nebraska with a score of 72-61, ending the Cornhuskers’ five-game winning streak. Dani Carnegie was a standout for Georgia Tech, netting 20 points, including four shots from beyond the arc. Kara Dunn also made a major contribution, recording a double-double with 16 points and 14 rebounds. This win allowed No. 17 Georgia Tech to improve its impressive record to 13-0, marking the best start in the history of the program.

The Yellow Jackets have achieved notable victories this season, including triumphs over ranked teams. Earlier, they defeated then-No. 21 Oregon 74-58 during the Hawaii North Shore Classic and secured an 82-76 win against then-No. 14 North Carolina in their Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) opener.

In addition to Carnegie and Dunn, Georgia Tech saw solid performances from Chazadi Wright, who scored 15 points on 5-of-7 shooting, and Tonie Morgan contributed 10 points to the team’s effort.

The game trajectory shifted when Kayla Blackshear made a layup to bring Georgia Tech ahead 11-10 with just under two minutes remaining in the first quarter. From that point onward, Georgia Tech maintained their lead. Carnegie’s timely three-pointer allowed the Yellow Jackets to pull away as they scored nine of the first eleven points in the second quarter, extending their lead to 23-12 with five minutes until halftime. Carnegie then hit two consecutive threes, helping Georgia Tech secure a 32-19 lead before the arrival of the third quarter.

Nebraska, now holding a record of 10-2, found itself trailing by at least eight points for the remainder of the contest. The Cornhuskers were led by Alexis Markowski, who delivered a strong performance with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Both Britt Prince and Logan Nissley chipped in for Nebraska, scoring 11 points each.

Looking ahead, Nebraska will return to Big Ten action on December 29 with a challenging game against top-ranked UCLA. Meanwhile, Georgia Tech will face off against Pittsburgh on the same day.
