Elon, N.C. – In an exciting basketball showdown, Sam Sherry propelled the Elon Phoenix to a narrow 73-69 victory over the UNC Greensboro Spartans on Saturday night, demonstrating his clutch skills with a decisive hook shot just 29 seconds before the final buzzer.
Sherry’s outstanding performance included a total of 28 points and 14 rebounds, showcasing his dominance on both ends of the court. His teammate, TJ Simpkins, also made significant contributions, scoring 14 points alongside five rebounds and three steals. Nick Dorn chipped in 13 points, achieving a perfect 4 for 4 from the charity stripe, despite struggling from beyond the arc with one successful three-pointer out of six attempts.
