RENO, Nev. — Nique Clifford contributed significantly to Colorado State’s success with a total of 16 points, and his crucial free throws in the final moments secured a narrow 66-64 victory over Nevada during their Mountain West Conference matchup on Saturday night.
Clifford also demonstrated his prowess on the boards, grabbing 12 rebounds for the Rams, who improved their record to 7-5. Kyan Evans showcased his scoring ability by shooting 5 of 8 from the field, including 3 of 5 from beyond the arc, and adding 16 points to the team’s effort. Rashaan Mbemba also made valuable contributions, finishing the game with 10 points after going 4 of 7 from the field and 2 of 4 from the free-throw line.
For the Wolf Pack, who fell to 8-4, Nick Davidson had a strong performance, leading his team with 13 points. Teammate Kobe Sanders also scored 13 points and distributed six assists. Tre Coleman added to the scoreboard with 12 points.
Colorado State entered halftime with a slight edge, leading Nevada 33-30, with Clifford scoring 11 points by that point. The turning moment of the match came when the Rams regained the lead with just over two minutes remaining in the second half, thanks to a layup by Mbemba that brought the score to 58-57.
Looking ahead, both teams are set to play again next Saturday. Colorado State will host New Mexico, while Nevada will go on the road to face Wyoming.
