YPSILANTI, Mich. — Da’Sean Nelson put on an impressive performance, netting 27 points to help the Eastern Michigan Eagles secure an 86-82 victory against the Wright State Raiders on Saturday.
In addition to his scoring prowess, Nelson also grabbed 13 rebounds, contributing significantly to his team’s success as they improved their record to 6-5. Jalen Terry also had a noteworthy outing, finishing with 21 points and shooting 7 of 12 from the field, including 6 of 10 from beyond the three-point line, along with making 1 of 3 free throw attempts. Yusuf Jihad added to the scoring mix with 11 points, hitting 4 of 9 shots, which included one successful three-pointer out of five attempts.
On the other side, Jack Doumbia was the standout player for Wright State, recording 21 points and four steals. Teammate Brandon Noel supported the effort with 17 points and eight rebounds, while Alex Huibregste contributed with 14 points, six assists, and three steals in a spirited performance. Wright State now stands at 7-7 with a 1-2 record in the Horizon League.
Nelson’s dynamic scoring included just eight points in the first half, as Eastern Michigan entered the locker room down 38-27. However, he came alive with 19 points in the second half, which was pivotal in guiding Eastern Michigan to a narrow four-point win.
Looking ahead, Eastern Michigan will take on Davidson in a road game next Saturday, while Wright State will be competing against Cleveland State the following day.
