WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — In a dazzling performance at the West Palm Beach Classic, Sara Puckett led Tennessee with 17 points and Jewell Spear added 16, as the No. 18 Lady Vols clinched a commanding 102-61 victory against Tulsa on Saturday.

The Lady Vols not only maintained their status as the highest-scoring team in the nation but also exceeded their own impressive average of 12.5 three-pointers per game by sinking 14 of their 32 attempts from beyond the arc. This match marked the fifth occasion this season where Tennessee scored over 100 points, placing them just behind the seven performances of the 1987-88 squad in program history. Furthermore, they set a new record with their seventh game featuring at least ten three-pointers.

Zee Spearman contributed significantly with 12 points and nine rebounds, supporting Tennessee’s perfect 11-0 record, which included victories in both games during the tournament. Ruby Whitehorn and Talaysia Cooper added 13 points each, demonstrating the team’s depth and versatility.

On the other hand, Tulsa’s efforts were led by Delanie Crawford, who scored 17 points. Mady Cartwright contributed 12 points, while Jade Clack added 10. The Golden Hurricanes shot 45% from the field, but their performance was hampered by a dismal 5 of 29 from three-point range and a troublesome 23 turnovers. In addition, they faced foul issues, with two players fouling out and three others accumulating four fouls each.

Tulsa managed to maintain a slight lead for most of the first quarter, but Cooper’s crucial tip-in with just a minute left gave the Lady Vols a 22-20 advantage.

Tennessee dominated the game in the second quarter, kickstarting with an 8-0 run. They further expanded their lead with scoring runs of nine and ten points, ultimately outpacing the Golden Hurricanes 41-11 to take a commanding 63-31 lead at halftime. During this quarter, the Lady Vols hit 6 of 8 three-point attempts and converted 15 of 22 overall shots, while limiting Tulsa to only 4-of-12 shooting and forcing them into eight turnovers. Puckett was instrumental in this surge, scoring two three-pointers and contributing 12 points.

Next, Tennessee will face Winthrop at home this coming Saturday before they kick off the Southeastern Conference play against Texas A&M on January 2.
