Providence, R.I. — In an exciting matchup, the St. John’s Red Storm triumphed over the Providence Friars with a final score of 72-70, thanks to a last-second jump shot from Zuby Ejiofor, who led his team with 19 points.

Ejiofor wasn’t just a key scorer; he also grabbed 10 rebounds, marking a double-double for the Red Storm, which now holds a record of 10-2 and is 2-0 in the Big East Conference. Deivon Smith also played a significant role in the victory, contributing 17 points with an efficient shooting performance, going 8 for 15. RJ Luis added to the team’s success by scoring 16 points, although he struggled a bit from three-point range, going 0 for 4, and made 6 of 11 from the free-throw line.

For the Friars, Bensley Joseph emerged as the leading scorer, finishing the game with 17 points and eight rebounds. His teammate Jayden Pierre contributed 16 points, while Wesley Cardet Jr. chipped in with an additional 10 points.

The game saw a significant turnaround in the second half. Kadary Richmond managed to put up eight points during the first half, but the Red Storm entered halftime with a deficit, trailing 42-29. Ejiofor rallied his team in the second half, scoring 12 points during that period, which culminated in the game-winning shot that secured victory for St. John’s.
