Delaware State Triumphs Over Alabama State in HBCU Classic

UNCASVILLE, Conn. —

Delaware State secured a thrilling victory against Alabama State, winning 83-80 in the Chris Paul HBCU Classic held at the Mohegan Sun on Friday evening.

Robert Smith played a pivotal role in the Hornets’ win, scoring 26 points. He demonstrated exceptional shooting skills, hitting 9 of his 15 attempts from the field, and an impressive 7 of 11 from three-point territory. Teammate Martez Robinson also made significant contributions, finishing with 23 points from 8 of 16 shooting, while also converting 6 of 8 free throw attempts and grabbing six rebounds.

Kaseem Watson added to the offense with 16 points on 8 of 12 shooting, contributing an additional six rebounds to the team’s effort. On the opposing side, Alabama State’s CJ Hines was their standout performer, netting 25 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Amarr Knox also made his mark by scoring 21 points and recording three steals. Micah Simpson chipped in with 10 points for Alabama State.

Looking ahead, Delaware State is set to face Saint Joseph’s (PA) on Saturday in an away game, while Alabama State will travel to take on Missouri on Monday.
