ARLINGTON, Texas — Hoby Milner, a left-handed reliever, has reached an agreement with the Texas Rangers on a one-year contract valued at $2.5 million. This signing is particularly special for Milner, who grew up as a fan of the Rangers in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, where he continues to reside.
Milner, who is set to turn 34 next month, has the opportunity to earn an additional $500,000 through performance bonuses based on innings pitched. These incentives include $100,000 for reaching 35 and 45 innings pitched, and $150,000 for 55 and 65 innings.
Over the last three seasons, Milner has played in 201 games for the Milwaukee Brewers, making him one of the most frequently used left-handed pitchers in the league; only Tanner Scott, with 213 appearances for Miami and San Diego, has participated in more contests during that time.
During the just-completed season, Milner recorded a 5-1 record with a 4.73 ERA across 61 games while with Milwaukee. He also made the first and only start of his Major League career this year, serving as an opener and pitching two innings against the Rangers on June 25.
Throughout his MLB career, Milner has accumulated a 10-5 win-loss record along with a 3.82 ERA over nine seasons with teams including the Philadelphia Phillies (2017-2018), the Tampa Bay Rays (2018-2019), the Los Angeles Angels (2020), and the Brewers (2021-2024). Standing at 6 feet 3 inches tall, Milner was drafted by the Phillies in the seventh round of the 2012 draft, following two seasons at the University of Texas. His baseball journey began in high school in Fort Worth.
