LAS CRUCES, N.M. — On Thursday evening, Robert Carpenter played a crucial role in assisting New Mexico State in their dominant win over Northern New Mexico, contributing 13 points off the bench to secure an 87-50 triumph.

Carpenter recorded a shooting performance that included 5 of 11 from the field, and while he struggled from long range, making just 1 of 5 attempts, he managed to hit 2 of 3 from the free-throw line. The Aggies, currently standing at 6-6 for the season, saw another strong performance from Christian Cook, who also scored 13 points, connecting on 5 of 6 attempts and showcasing his shooting prowess by hitting 3 of 4 from three-point territory. Additionally, Peter Filipovity added to the scoreline with 12 points, shooting 5 of 10 from the field and converting 2 of his 4 free-throw attempts.

On the other side, Northern New Mexico’s scoring effort was spearheaded by Gabriel Gutierrez, who finished the game with 10 points. Eloy Medina also contributed with another 10 points, and Tahj-Malik Campbell added nine points along with two steals in the contest.

New Mexico State quickly established their control over the game, taking the lead just 19 seconds into the first half and never looking back. Dionte Bostick played a significant part in the first half, scoring eight points and helping the Aggies to a commanding 43-18 lead at halftime. Throughout the second half, New Mexico State continued to outperform Northern New Mexico by an additional 12 points, with Carpenter leading the charge in the final period by scoring a team-high nine points.
