DALLAS — The Dallas Mavericks will be without their leading scorers, Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving, for their matchup against the Los Angeles Clippers on Thursday night due to injuries.
Doncic is dealing with a left heel contusion, which he sustained during the Mavericks’ thrilling 143-133 victory against Golden State on Sunday. In that game, Doncic recorded his 80th career triple-double, contributing 45 points, 13 assists, and 11 rebounds. This achievement places him seventh on the all-time triple-double leaderboard and fourth among active players.
Irving will also be absent due to soreness in his right shoulder.
Despite the absence of their star players, the Mavericks have demonstrated resilience this season. They hold a 5-1 record without Doncic and a 1-1 record when Irving is unavailable. However, this will mark the first instance this season where both players will sit out a game simultaneously. Following a tough stretch, the Mavericks have rebounded with impressive performances, winning 12 of their last 14 games after experiencing a four-game losing streak earlier in the season.
Doncic, who was the NBA’s scoring leader last season with an average of 33.9 points per game, is currently averaging 28.9 points, 8.6 rebounds, and 8.2 assists this season. Meanwhile, Irving contributes an average of 23.9 points per game.
