BUIES CREEK, N.C. — In a compelling matchup on Wednesday night, Longwood University secured a comfortable 77-55 victory against Campbell University, largely thanks to the contributions of Johan Nziemi, who came off the bench to score 13 points.
Additionally, Nziemi rounded out his performance with five rebounds, significantly aiding the Lancers, who improved to a record of 10-3 following this contest. Michael Christmas was another key player for Longwood, netting 11 points while hitting 4 of his 11 attempts, including a solid 3-for-8 from three-point territory. Colby Garland added similarly impactful statistics with his own 11 points, managing 4 out of 9 shooting and successfully sinking 2 out of 5 three-pointers.
On the opposing side, the Fighting Camels, now standing at 5-7, saw their scoring led by Colby Duggan, who contributed 13 points in the game. Caleb Zurliene made noteworthy contributions as well, scoring eight points along with two steals and three blocks. Tasos Cook further supported the Camels’ efforts by adding six points to the scoreboard.
The turning point of the game came when Longwood took command with about 11:30 remaining in the first half, and from that moment on, they maintained their lead throughout. By the time the halftime buzzer sounded, the score was firmly in Longwood’s favor at 34-20, creating a challenging gap that Campbell could not overcome in the second half.
