TAMPA, Fla. — In an exciting matchup on Wednesday night, Bethune-Cookman triumphed over South Florida with a score of 77-69, led by Reggie Ward Jr., who contributed 19 points.
Ward was a standout performer for the Wildcats (3-8), also grabbing 10 rebounds and making four steals. Brayon Freeman played a vital role as well, finishing the game with 18 points, shooting 6 of 11 from the field, including 2 of 4 from beyond the arc, and going a perfect 4 for 4 from the free-throw line. He also tallied five rebounds and five assists. Tre Thomas matched Freeman’s effort with 18 points, achieving a shooting percentage of 33.3% with 4 of 12 from the field, 3 of 5 from three-point range, and hitting 7 of 8 from the charity stripe.

On the other side, South Florida (5-6) was led by Jamille Reynolds who scored 15 points and grabbed six rebounds. Kasen Jennings contributed significantly as well, adding 12 points and collecting six rebounds, while Jayden Reid chipped in with 12 points and dished out four assists.

Bethune-Cookman finished the first half with a slim lead of 32-29. They turned the game in their favor with an impressive 13-0 run early in the second half, overcoming a two-point deficit and pulling ahead to a 48-37 advantage with just over 14 minutes left on the clock.
