MONTREAL — The Nashville Predators have made a significant move by trading defenseman Alexandre Carrier to the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for defenseman Justin Barron. This announcement was made by the Predators on Wednesday evening, just over a day before the NHL’s holiday roster freeze begins.

Justin Barron, who has played 111 games in the NHL, has tallied 13 goals and provided 18 assists during his time on the ice. Since being acquired through a trade from the Colorado Avalanche in 2022, his playing time has been split between the NHL and the American Hockey League. Currently, the 23-year-old native of Halifax, Nova Scotia, has one goal in 17 NHL appearances this season.

On the other hand, Alexandre Carrier has recorded one goal and six assists in 28 games this season for Nashville. The 28-year-old, originally from Quebec City, has developed into a steady player, with a record of 11 goals and 58 assists across 245 games in his Nashville career. The Predators drafted him in the fourth round, 115th overall, in the 2015 NHL Draft, showcasing their long-term investment in his development.
