FRISCO, Texas — In an exhilarating match on Tuesday night, Memphis quarterback Seth Henigan accomplished a significant milestone by throwing his 104th career touchdown pass during the Tigers’ 42-37 triumph over West Virginia in the Frisco Bowl. This performance allowed him to tie the American Athletic Conference record.
Henigan achieved this milestone with an impressive 18-yard touchdown pass to DeMeer Blankumsee, occurring just 55 seconds before halftime. This throw marked his 25th touchdown of the season, solidifying his status as the only current four-year FBS starting quarterback who has played all his collegiate games for one institution.
Previously, Clayton Tune held the record with 104 touchdown passes while at Houston from 2018 to 2022. Henigan nearly surpassed this achievement during the fourth quarter, but Blankumsee was halted at the 1-yard line following an exciting 89-yard catch-and-run play.
In this game, Henigan completed 18 of his 26 passing attempts in what was his 50th and final appearance for the Tigers, a game played a little more than 20 miles from his hometown of Denton, Texas.
He concluded his time at Memphis as the all-time leading passer with a remarkable 14,266 yards and tied for the career touchdown record. Both of these achievements were previously held by Brady White, who was the quarterback that Henigan succeeded at Memphis.
