Charlotte Tops West Georgia in Close Contest
In a closely fought game on Tuesday night, the Charlotte 49ers secured a 75-70 victory over the West Georgia Wolves, with Robert Braswell making a significant contribution by scoring 20 points.
Braswell was also impactful on the defensive end, recording three steals for his team, which improves their record to 6-4 for the season. His teammate, Nik Graves, matched his scoring output, putting up 20 points as well, shooting 5 for 10 from the field. Graves also excelled at the free-throw line, converting 8 of 9 attempts and hitting 2 out of 4 from beyond the arc.
For West Georgia, which suffered its 11th loss of the season, leading scorer Rickey Ballard tallied 18 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Tamaury Releford contributed with 15 points and seven rebounds, while Shelton Williams-Dryden added 13 points to the team’s efforts.
Charlotte headed to the locker room at halftime with a slight lead, 34-31, with Braswell scoring 12 of his total points in the first half. The turning point came when Braswell converted a free throw with just under five minutes left on the clock, granting Charlotte a critical lead at 61-60 that they would not relinquish.
Overall, Charlotte’s balanced scoring and strong defensive performance were key factors in their hard-fought victory against West Georgia.
