ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Michigan’s running back Donovan Edwards announced during a press conference on Sunday that he has chosen to sit out of the upcoming ReliaQuest Bowl, where the Wolverines are set to face off against No. 11 Alabama on December 31. His decision is driven by a desire to dedicate his time to preparing for the NFL draft.
In the current season, Edwards has achieved notable statistics, recording 589 rushing yards along with four touchdowns for Michigan, the defending national champions with a record of 7-5. Over the course of his college career, he has amassed a total of 2,251 rushing yards and 19 touchdowns, along with making 86 receptions for an additional 797 yards and four receiving scores.
Adding to the challenges for Michigan as they prepare for the high-stakes matchup against the Crimson Tide, they will also be missing several key players. Among those absent will be defensive tackle Mason Graham, cornerback Will Johnson, and tight end Colston Loveland, all of whom are projected to be potential first-round selections in the upcoming NFL draft.
As the Wolverines gear up for this significant game, the focus will be not only on the players who remain but also on how they can adapt to the absence of some crucial talents, highlighting the depth of their roster as they look to complete their season on a strong note.
