KINGSTON, R.I. — Jamarques Lawrence contributed significantly to Rhode Island’s victory over Central Connecticut, scoring 16 points in a tight game that ended with a score of 77-69 on Sunday.

Lawrence also provided the team with seven assists, showcasing his all-around game for the Rams (10-1). In addition to Lawrence’s performance, David Green added 14 points and secured five rebounds. Tyonne Farrell played effectively as well, hitting 5 of 7 shots from the field and managing to score 13 points despite a tough night at the free-throw line, where he was 2 for 6.

On the other hand, the Blue Devils (6-4) were spearheaded by Devin Haid, who had an outstanding game with 24 points, 12 rebounds, and two blocks. Central Connecticut also received solid contributions from Joe Ostrowsky, who recorded 11 points, seven rebounds, and five assists. Davonte Sweatman matched Ostrowsky with 11 points as well, rounding out their offensive efforts.

Rhode Island took control of the game late in the first half, gaining the lead with just 3:45 remaining before halftime. By the break, the score was 35-32, highlighted by David Fuchs, who netted eight points. In a strong display during the second half, Rhode Island executed an 8-0 run that allowed them to extend their lead to 10 points at 54-44 with 14:41 left on the clock, ultimately securing their win as they maintained their advantage until the final buzzer.
