HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. — In a decisive matchup on Sunday, Temple University overpowered Hofstra with a score of 60-42, led by Jamal Mashburn Jr., who contributed 12 points to the Owls’ victory.
Mashburn’s performance included shooting 4 for 14 from the field, although he struggled with his three-point shooting, missing all three attempts. However, he did find success at the free-throw line, completing all four of his attempts. Alongside Mashburn, Quante Berry added a solid performance, scoring 10 points from 4 of 6 shooting and converting 2 out of 3 from beyond the arc. Berry also collected five rebounds during the game. Lynn Greer III contributed nine points for the Owls, making 4 of 8 shots.
On the opposing side, Hofstra, with a record of 8-4, saw the standout performance from Jean Aranguren, who secured 16 points and dominated the boards with 14 rebounds. His efforts were complemented by five assists and three blocks, showcasing his versatility on the court. Kijan Robinson brought additional support with nine points and two steals, while Silas Sunday contributed five points, 11 boards, and three blocks to the Pride’s efforts.
The game saw Temple establish an early lead with 15:04 left in the first half, a lead they maintained throughout the contest. By halftime, the Owls held a comfortable 33-20 advantage, with Mashburn leading the team in scoring. In the second half, Temple continued to distance themselves from Hofstra, outscoring them by five more points, highlighted by Greer’s seven points in the final half.
