BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — Don McHenry made a significant impact during the overtime period, scoring seven of his total 29 points, which propelled Western Kentucky to an 81-76 victory against Murray State on Saturday.
With just 39 seconds remaining, McHenry connected on a pivotal 3-pointer that gave the Hilltoppers the lead, followed by two crucial free throws with 15 seconds left on the clock. His performance included five rebounds, contributing to the team’s overall win as they improved to a 7-3 record. Babacar Faye supported with 17 points, alongside nine rebounds, while Khristian Lander added 12 points.
For Murray State, Jacobi Wood was the standout player, recording 22 points, seven rebounds, and six assists. Nick Ellington contributed with 15 points and seven rebounds, while AJ Ferguson added 13 points, seven rebounds, and two steals to the effort.
Faye began strong for Western Kentucky, scoring eight points in the first half, but the team found themselves down 39-33 at halftime. McHenry excelled in the second half, scoring 15 points, and hit a game-tying layup with just 35 seconds remaining, which allowed the game to extend into overtime tied at 67 points.
