YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — EJ Farmer made a significant impact for Youngstown State on Saturday by scoring 20 points, contributing to the team’s 93-87 victory over Toledo.
Farmer demonstrated his shooting skills by hitting 8 of 15 attempts from the field, including 3 of 8 from beyond the arc, helping the Penguins improve to a 6-5 record.
Nico Galette also had a strong performance, netting 17 points with a shooting line of 5 for 13, including 3 for 8 from three-point range, while also securing 11 rebounds and providing seven assists for his team.
Additionally, Juwan Maxey added 16 points, shooting 4 of 9 overall, with a commendable 3 for 7 from the three-point line, and finishing a perfect 5 for 5 from the free-throw line.

On the other side, Sam Lewis led the scoring for the Rockets with a total of 21 points alongside eight rebounds.
Teammate Sonny Wilson contributed significantly as well with 17 points, six rebounds, and four assists, while Seth Hubbard added his contribution with 14 points, yet Toledo ended up with a 6-4 record following the loss.

In the first half, Farmer was lively, recording 13 points and helping Youngstown State take a 44-39 lead at halftime.
The Penguins created a pivotal moment in the second half, capitalizing on a 7-0 scoring run that allowed them to break a 76-76 tie, pushing the score to 83-76 with just 3:14 left on the clock, ultimately sealing their victory.
Galette’s performance also stood out in the second half, contributing 12 points during that period.
