Furman defeats South Carolina State 68-64 with Bowser contributing 16 points

GREENVILLE, S.C. — In a competitive matchup on Saturday, Furman triumphed over South Carolina State with a final score of 68-64, thanks in part to Cooper Bowser’s impressive performance, where he netted 16 points.

Furman secured the lead with just 35 seconds left in the game when Tom House sank a jumper, putting the Paladins ahead 64-62. They efficiently sealed the victory by converting all four of their free-throw attempts in the remaining moments of the game.

Bowser also demonstrated his defensive prowess with three steals and four blocks to help the Paladins improve to a 10-1 record this season. His teammates contributed as well, with Eddrin Bronson scoring 11 points, making three out of eight shots from the field, including two out of six from beyond the arc, and completing three out of four attempts from the free-throw line. In addition, Nick Anderson also added 11 points to the scoreboard, with a shooting performance that included three for nine overall and one for five from long range, while maintaining a perfect four for four from the free-throw stripe.

On the opposing side, Drayton Jones led the Bulldogs in scoring, contributing 15 points to South Carolina State’s total, while Omar Croskey chipped in with 13 points. Furthermore, Davion Everett had a notable performance with 12 points, 10 rebounds, and three steals, helping the Bulldogs to a record of 5-7 this season.
