On Friday night, during a game in Portland, veteran guard Chris Paul of the San Antonio Spurs was ejected after receiving his second technical foul.
This incident occurred with just 1:03 remaining in the first quarter, and alarmingly, it came shortly after he had been assessed his first technical just 11 seconds prior.
The reason behind Paul’s ejection remains unclear to both fans and analysts alike.
At the time of his departure from the game, Paul had contributed five points, four rebounds, and four assists, while averaging 10.2 points and 8.5 assists per game this season.
The Spurs headed into this match already short-staffed, with only 11 players available for the game.
Notably, Stephon Castle, who has been averaging 12.1 points, missed the game due to a bruised left shoulder, marking his first absence this season.
Additionally, the team was also without several other key players, including Zach Collins because of a bruised lower back, Keldon Johnson due to a left calf strain, and Tre Jones, who was sidelined with a sprained left shoulder.
The combination of injuries and Paul’s ejection posed significant challenges for the Spurs as they attempted to navigate through the game.
