EMPOLI, Italy — In a thrilling display, Scotland’s Che Adams scored an astonishing goal from nearly the halfway line, propelling Torino to a 1-0 victory against Empoli in Serie A on Friday.
Adams, who came on as a substitute for Antonio Sanabria in the 64th minute, made an impressive impact just minutes later. At the 70-minute mark, he noticed that the Empoli goalkeeper had strayed off his line and skillfully lobbed the ball over him from the center circle, marking a spectacular end to his eight-match scoring drought.
This memorable goal considerably alleviates the pressure on Torino’s coach, Paolo Vanoli. Earlier this season, Torino started strong and remained unbeaten in their first five league matches, even momentarily claiming the top position in the standings. However, the team has struggled since late October, managing only one win in their last ten games.
With this latest triumph, Torino has climbed to 12th place in the league, two spots and three points behind their opponents, Empoli.
