In Tucson, Arizona, the University of Arizona has officially appointed Seth Doege, previously the offensive coordinator at Marshall, to take on the same role under head coach Brent Brennan. This announcement was made on Friday, marking a significant change in the coaching staff.
Doege steps in to succeed Dino Babers, who was dismissed following a disappointing season where the Arizona program ranked 115th in total offensive yards during Brennan’s inaugural year. At just 35 years old, Doege brings a fresh perspective and experience from his one season at Marshall. While there, he oversaw an offense that averaged an impressive 31 points per game and boasted a rushing attack that exceeded 200 yards regularly.
Before his tenure at Marshall, Doege built a diverse coaching background with positions at several notable institutions including Purdue, Ole Miss, Southern California, and Bowling Green. His impressive pedigree extends beyond coaching, as he had a notable playing career too. As a quarterback, he flourished under the guidance of the late Mike Leach at Texas Tech, where he threw for over 4,000 yards in both his junior and senior seasons before continuing his football journey in the Canadian Football League.
With this new appointment, Arizona looks to revamp its offensive strategies and aims to enhance its performance moving forward. The expectation is that Doege will leverage his expertise to develop a more dynamic and effective offense for the team in the upcoming season.
