MALELANE, South Africa — On Friday, Marcus Kinhult from Sweden carded a 4-under 68, allowing him to establish a three-shot gap ahead of the competition after the second round of the Alfred Dunhill Championship.
Entering the round, Kinhult was tied for second place thanks to a solid opening score of 65 at the renowned Leopard Creek Country Club.
His second round included an impressive seven birdies offset by three bogeys, propelling him to the top of the leaderboard.
Close on his heels are competitors Dean Burmester, Dale Whitnell, and Andrea Pavan, each vying to close the gap.
Thriston Lawrence, who is ranked No. 46 and was the sole player among the 156 participants within the top 50, unfortunately did not make the cut after he followed up his first-round score of 75 with a 72.
This championship marks the second consecutive event hosted in South Africa on the European Tour, following the Nedbank Golf Challenge held the previous week.
