MADRID — Kylian Mbappé is set to be sidelined for one game in La Liga due to a leg injury, but Carlo Ancelotti, the head coach of Real Madrid, remains optimistic about his striker’s chances of participating in the upcoming Intercontinental Cup final next week.

During a press conference on Friday, Ancelotti announced that Mbappé has sustained an injury to his left thigh, which will prevent him from taking part in Saturday’s La Liga clash against Rayo Vallecano.

Despite this setback, Ancelotti confirmed that Mbappé will join his teammates in traveling to Qatar for the Intercontinental Cup final, scheduled for December 18. In this match, Real Madrid will face either Pachuca or Al Ahly.

“We will assess whether he can play without incurring any additional risks regarding his injury,” Ancelotti explained to the media. “He will make the trip because we are hopeful of his recovery.”

Mbappé picked up the injury during a thrilling 3-2 victory against Atalanta in the Champions League on Tuesday, where he managed to score before being substituted due to the ailment.
