JONESBORO, Ark. — In a thrilling encounter on Thursday night, Taryn Todd led the Arkansas State Red Wolves to an 83-79 win over UT Arlington, scoring a commendable 23 points.
Todd also contributed significantly to the rebounding effort, grabbing eight boards, helping the Red Wolves to improve their record to 8-3. Joseph Pinion was another standout performer, scoring 16 points and showcasing his shooting skills by going 4 for 8 from the field—3 for 7 from beyond the arc—and sinking 5 of 6 from the free-throw line. He also managed to snatch three steals during the game. Kobe Julien rounded out the scoring for Arkansas State with 14 points, although he struggled from the field, finishing with just 2 for 10 shooting and missing all four of his three-point attempts while being effective from the charity stripe, where he converted 10 of 11 attempts.
On the other side, the UT Arlington Mavericks, now holding a 4-6 record, were led by Jaden Wells, who scored 19 points to pace his team. Diante Smith contributed a solid 15 points, demonstrating his defensive prowess with two steals. Lance Ware added to the Mavericks’ effort with an impactful performance that included 11 points, seven rebounds, two steals, and an impressive four blocks. Despite the spirited efforts from both teams, Arkansas State secured the close victory.
