ANAHEIM, Calif. — Anaheim Ducks forward Trevor Zegras is set to miss approximately six weeks following surgery to address a torn meniscus in his right knee.
The team confirmed that the surgery took place on Thursday.
Zegras sustained the injury during a seemingly innocuous moment in last week’s game against the Vegas Golden Knights, which ended in a 4-1 defeat for the Ducks. While entangled briefly with Vegas player William Karlsson, Zegras fell and required assistance to leave the ice.
This incident marks Zegras’ third significant injury in just over a year; however, a torn meniscus is viewed as a more favorable outcome considering the potential severity of knee injuries. Last season, he was limited to just 31 games due to two prior injuries, including a broken ankle that necessitated surgical intervention.
So far this season, Zegras has recorded four goals and six assists across 24 games for the Ducks, a team that has faced challenges recently, entering their road matchup against the Toronto Maple Leafs with four consecutive losses.
In a surprising move, the Ducks activated forward Robby Fabbri from injured reserve ahead of their game against Toronto. Fabbri, who had undergone arthroscopic knee surgery on November 15, is recovering at a significantly quicker pace than initially expected, which had projected a recovery timeframe of six to eight weeks.
