New York — VICE TV is set to enhance its offerings with the introduction of new original sports programming. Among these additions are two series focused on the journeys of notable college basketball coaches.
On Thursday, VICE revealed that it would launch a six-episode series focused on St. John’s coach Rick Pitino and Arkansas coach John Calipari. This programming will begin airing in February, coinciding with the lead-up to the NCAA Tournament.
The series titled “Pitino: Red Storm Rising” will delve into the career trajectory of the two-time NCAA championship winner, as he aims to guide St. John’s back to the tournament for the first time since 2019.
In contrast, “Calipari: Razor’s Edge” will provide an in-depth, behind-the-scenes view of John Calipari’s inaugural season at Arkansas. This series is being developed in collaboration with Peyton Manning’s Omaha Productions.
“Peyton Manning expressed his enthusiasm, noting, ‘Coach Cal is a Hall of Fame coach and a legend in the sport. We anticipate that this series will be the first of many future partnerships between Omaha and VICE as they broaden their sports content offerings,'” he stated.
Currently, VICE TV reaches around 40 million households, indicating a significant platform for these exciting new series.
