MONTGOMERY, Ala. — In an exciting matchup on Wednesday night, Alabama State edged out UT Martin with a final score of 103-93 after a thrilling overtime period. Amarr Knox was instrumental in the victory, scoring 23 points for the Hornets.

As the game approached its conclusion, UT Martin managed to tie the score by netting five points in the last 15 seconds of regulation. However, the Hornets regrouped effectively in overtime, decisively outscoring the Skyhawks 15-5 to secure the win.

Knox performed strongly, making 7 of his 14 attempts from the floor, which included 1 of 3 from three-point range, and an impressive 8 for 9 from the free-throw line. The Hornets improved their record to 4-6 with this victory. Micah Simpsom also contributed significantly, scoring 20 points by going 7 of 13 overall and excelling with 6 of 10 from beyond the arc. Additionally, CJ Hines had a well-rounded game, finishing with 17 points, five rebounds, and 11 assists.

On the other side, Tarence Guinyard was the standout performer for UT Martin, totaling 31 points alongside seven rebounds and two steals. Matija Zuzic supported with 21 points and nine rebounds, while Afan Trnka added another 19 points to the Skyhawks’ effort, but their record fell to 3-7 after the loss.
