LINCOLN, Neb. — On Wednesday night, the Nebraska Cornhuskers, ranked 24th, emerged victorious against Tarleton State, securing a 63-50 win. Britt Prince excelled for Nebraska, contributing 19 points to help lead the team.

Alexis Markowski supported the efforts with 15 points, hitting an impressive 9 out of 10 free throws, while Amiah Hargrove scored 13 points, with 10 coming in the second half. Despite shooting only 30% from the field, the Cornhuskers (9-1) made the most of their opportunities at the charity stripe, converting 22 of 25 attempts, significantly outpacing the Texans (5-6), who only managed to sink their two free throw attempts.

Markowski’s performance on the court solidified her place in history as she became the fourth player in Nebraska’s program to achieve a career total of 1,500 points and 1,000 rebounds.

For Tarleton State, Karyn Sanford was a standout, scoring 14 points and recording four 3-pointers, which led all players in that category. Faith Acker also made notable contributions, posting 10 points alongside 11 rebounds. However, the Texans struggled offensively, managing only 38% shooting and committing 21 turnovers throughout the match.

Midway through the fourth quarter, Tarleton State made a push by executing a 9-0 run, closing the gap to six points. Nevertheless, Nebraska responded with an 8-0 run, with six points coming from the free throw line. As the game neared its end, the Texans hit back with consecutive 3-pointers to bring the score within eight points with only two minutes to play. Prince quickly countered with a three-pointer of her own, but after the Texans missed three attempts on their next possession, Callin Hake sealed the victory for Nebraska with the final basket.

Nebraska gained their first double-digit lead of the night in the third quarter following an 8-0 scoring run, ending that quarter with a 49-35 advantage. The opening quarter saw the teams evenly matched, leading to a tie, while Tarleton managed a brief lead in the second quarter before Nebraska reclaimed control with timely 3-pointers from Prince and Kendall Coley, thereby ending the first half ahead 33-26.

Next up, Nebraska will host Chattanooga on Sunday, while Tarleton State will return home to face New Mexico State on Monday.
