SOUTH BEND, Ind. – On Wednesday night, Notre Dame emerged victorious over Dartmouth with a final score of 77-65, thanks to standout performances from multiple players. Braeden Shrewsberry led the team by scoring 22 points, while Tae Davis contributed significantly with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Matt Allocco also played a critical role, adding 16 points to the scoreboard for Notre Dame (6-5), which finished the game with an impressive shooting percentage of 53%, despite struggling with their three-point shots, making only 6 out of 21 attempts.
In the first half, Notre Dame dominated the two-point game, successfully making 15 of their 18 attempts. This allowed them to establish a solid lead, entering halftime at 39-28. Davis had an exceptional half, hitting 7 of 8 shots for a total of 14 points, while Shrewsberry contributed 10 points on 4-for-7 shooting.
The Fighting Irish extended their advantage to 17 points early in the second half. A critical three-pointer from Shrewsberry put the score at 66-48 with just over nine minutes left in the game. Their lead swelled to 18 points when J.R. Konieczny drained a jumper with 5 and a half minutes remaining. However, Notre Dame faced difficulty as they missed their next eight shots, allowing Dartmouth to narrow the gap to nine points with about 90 seconds left.
To secure their victory, Shrewsberry hit two free throws to ignite a streak where the Fighting Irish scored five times in six attempts, effectively sealing the game. For Dartmouth (4-5), Jackson Munro led with 17 points, while Jayden Williams added 13. The team struggled from beyond the arc, shooting only 18% with 6 out of 33 three-point attempts. Connor Amundsen, Brandon Mitchell-Day, and Ryan Cornish all chipped in with 10 points each as well.
With a recent win against Syracuse in an ACC opener under their belt, Notre Dame will play one final nonconference game against Le Moyne on December 22. They will then shift their focus back to conference play, facing Georgia Tech on December 31.
