ATLANTA — Rusne Augustinaite showcased her skill by sinking five shots from beyond the arc, finishing the game with 17 points, while Dani Carnegie contributed with 14 points, including four 3-pointers, leading No. 25 Georgia Tech to a commanding 97-37 victory over UL Monroe on Wednesday.

This win allowed Georgia Tech to match a longstanding program record, starting the season with ten consecutive victories, a feat previously achieved by the 1977-78 squad. The Yellow Jackets have the opportunity to claim the record outright with a win against No. 14 North Carolina this upcoming Sunday as they dive into ACC play.

Georgia Tech’s dominance was evident early on, as they erupted for 23 points of the game’s first 28, maintaining a lead of ten or more for the remainder of the match. The Yellow Jackets delivered an impressive start to the second quarter as well, scoring the first 17 points and extending their lead to a staggering 35 points at 45-10.

UL Monroe struggled offensively, managing a mere 13 points in the third quarter after only scoring 14 by halftime. The fourth quarter did not begin any better for them, as Georgia Tech quickly added four more points to push their lead to 52.

Contributing to Georgia Tech’s scoring were Ines Noguero with 13 points and Kara Dunn, who added 12 to the tally. The Yellow Jackets showcased their shooting prowess, finishing the game with 14 successful 3-pointers out of 33 attempts, in stark contrast to UL Monroe’s 3-for-21 performance from long range.

For UL Monroe, Meloney Thames managed to score 10 points but struggled with her shooting, finishing 4-of-17 from the field.

With this victory, Georgia Tech made a notable return to the national rankings, marking their first appearance in the list since the 2021-22 season when they spent 14 weeks in the AP Top 25. They are now one of five teams from the ACC featured in the rankings, alongside No. 8 Notre Dame, No. 9 Duke, North Carolina, and No. 22 N.C. State.

UL Monroe will now return to their home court at Fant-Ewing Coliseum after a month-long absence, preparing to face Mississippi State on Tuesday.
