NEW YORK — A veteran in the publishing industry who has been instrumental in producing bestselling titles for prominent authors, including Oprah Winfrey and Matthew Perry, is set to take on the role of CEO at Phaidon Press Inc., an esteemed publisher known for its art and fashion books, among other genres.
Bob Miller, previously the publisher at Macmillan’s Flatiron Books, will officially assume his new position on January 1.
In a statement released on Tuesday, Miller expressed his enthusiasm for joining Phaidon, saying, “Phaidon has been one of the great names in publishing since it was founded 100 years ago, consistently bringing books of extraordinary beauty and sophistication into the world. I look forward to working with the talented Phaidon staff to continue this dedication to quality in everything they do.”
With over three decades of experience in publishing, Miller’s career includes significant roles, such as leading Hyperion Books. His distinguished work encompasses a range of bestselling titles, including Winfrey’s “What Happened to You?”, Perry’s “Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing,” and former FBI Director James Comey’s “A Higher Loyalty.” He was also responsible for releasing Joe Biden’s “Promise Me Dad” prior to his presidency, along with fiction from Liane Moriarty and S.A. Cosby, as well as Michael J. Fox’s memoir, “Lucky Me.”
Established in 1923, Phaidon has produced notable works with an array of creators, including Rihanna, Marc Jacobs, and the Andy Warhol Foundation. Miller will replace Keith Fox, who recently announced his decision to step down from the CEO role after a decade of leadership.
Phaidon board representative Lili Lynton shared her enthusiasm about Miller’s appointment, noting, “We’ve gotten to know Bob over the past several years, and he has impressed us with his creativity, innovative thinking, and love for our business. We are excited to see Phaidon flourish under his leadership.”
