A fuel depot in the central Italian region of Tuscany exploded on Monday, resulting in the deaths of at least two individuals and leaving nine others injured, according to local authorities.
The explosion occurred at a facility belonging to Italy’s ENI oil company, located in Calenzano, not far from Florence. Officials are currently investigating the cause of the incident. Fortunately, the fire was contained to the loading area of the depot and did not spread to adjacent storage tanks.
Firefighters were promptly deployed to combat the blaze and ensure the safety of the surrounding area.
In light of the incident, regional train services have been temporarily halted due to the heavy smoke in the vicinity, and residents in the area have been urged to remain indoors for their safety.
