PRINCESS ANNE, Md. — In a tightly contested matchup on Sunday, R.J. Greene scored an impressive 18 points, leading Wagner to a narrow 63-61 victory over Maryland-Eastern Shore.
Alongside his scoring effort, Greene contributed five rebounds for the Seahawks, who improved their season record to 5-4. Javier Esquerra Trelles also had a notable performance, netting 13 points with a shooting line of 4 for 11 from the field, including a solid three-pointer shooting percentage of 3 for 7, and hitting 2 out of 3 from the free-throw line. Keyontae Lewis supported the team with 11 points on an efficient 5 of 6 shooting, while also grabbing seven rebounds.
On the other side, the Hawks struggled throughout the game, sinking to a record of 1-11 this season. Ketron Shaw spearheaded their scoring with 19 points, alongside six rebounds and four steals. Evan Johnson matched Shaw’s offensive output with another 19 points and contributed five assists. Chris Flippin added a modest six points, but the loss marked the Hawks’ seventh consecutive defeat, reflecting their ongoing challenges this season.
Looking ahead, both teams are set to compete again on Saturday. Wagner will head to NJIT for their next challenge, while Maryland-Eastern Shore is scheduled to host Bryn Athyn College.
