ATLANTA — Tragedy struck outside Atlanta on Saturday when five individuals, including a 1-year-old boy and a 5-year-old girl, were discovered deceased in an apartment, leading authorities to suspect a case of murder-suicide.

Authorities were called to perform a welfare check at the apartment shortly before 7:30 p.m. Upon their arrival, they found five bodies inside the residence, all of whom had sustained gunshot wounds, according to a statement from the DeKalb County Police Department’s Lt. Shane Smith.

The investigation is currently ongoing, but preliminary findings suggest that the incident may be linked to domestic issues, leading officials to believe it could involve a murder-suicide.

So far, there have been no further details disclosed regarding the circumstances of the deaths. Along with the two young children, the deceased included a 43-year-old woman, a 32-year-old man, and a 26-year-old woman.
