SAN DIEGO – Nordin Kapic was instrumental in UC San Diego’s commanding victory over Cal State Bakersfield, scoring 25 points in an 81-60 win on Saturday.
Kapic also contributed defensively with three steals for the Tritons, who improved their record to 8-2 overall and 2-0 in the Big West Conference. Hayden Gray added 11 points for the Tritons, shooting 4 out of 8 from the field, which included a 1 for 5 performance from three-point range. Tyler McGhie scored nine points, showcasing a shooting line of 3 for 8, and also struggled with his range, making just 1 out of 5 shots from beyond the arc. This victory marked the Tritons’ sixth consecutive win, solidifying their momentum in the season.
For the Roadrunners, who fall to 4-6 overall and 0-2 in conference play, CJ Hardy led the scoring with 11 points and contributed three steals. Corey Stephenson was another notable performer, recording 10 points and grabbing seven rebounds. Marvin McGhee also made his presence felt with eight points in the effort to turn the tide for CSU Bakersfield.
This matchup demonstrated UC San Diego’s growing strength in the Big West Conference, as they continue to build on their successful run this season.
