EDINBURG, Texas – On Saturday night, the Lamar Cardinals showcased a dominant performance against the UT Rio Grande Valley Vaqueros, securing an impressive 84-52 victory. The standout player of the game, Alexis Marmolejos, contributed significantly to the win, scoring 18 points while hitting 7 of his 13 attempts, including 2 of 4 from three-point territory.

Supporting Marmolejos were Ja’Sean Jackson, who added 15 points, achieving an impressive shooting percentage with 7 of 11 from the floor (1 of 4 from beyond the arc). Both Andrew Holifield and Adam Hamilton chipped in with 12 points each, reinforcing the Cardinals’ offense throughout the match. This victory improved Lamar’s record to 4-5 overall and 2-0 in the Southland Conference.

On the opposing side, the Vaqueros struggled to keep pace, with K.T. Raimey leading their scoring effort with just 10 points. Howard Fleming Jr. contributed a solid performance as well, recording eight points and securing eight rebounds. Trey Miller also played a role, finishing with eight points and two steals, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Cardinals’ offensive firepower.

Looking ahead, both teams have their next games scheduled for the coming Saturday. Lamar will be traveling to Louisiana for their next matchup, while UT Rio Grande Valley will be hosting Northern New Mexico.
