COLUMBIA, S.C. — South Carolina’s basketball team claimed a 75-68 victory over East Carolina on Saturday, overcoming a five-point halftime deficit. The Gamecocks showcased an impressive shooting performance in the second half, sinking eight 3-pointers to turn the game around. Jamarii Thomas and Morris Ugusuk each contributed significantly, hitting three 3-point shots apiece, helping the team secure their third consecutive win.

In the latter half, South Carolina displayed remarkable efficiency by making 17 of their 25 shot attempts, resulting in a striking shooting percentage of 68%. They also managed to sink 8 of 12 attempts from beyond the arc, achieving a notable success rate of 66.7%.

East Carolina started the second half strong, extending their lead to 34-27 with an RJ Felton jumper. However, the Gamecocks quickly responded with a burst of energy, executing a 17-0 run fueled by three consecutive layups from Collin Murray-Boyles, a jumper from Jamarii Thomas, and a 3-pointer from Jacobi Wright. This pushed South Carolina ahead by a significant margin. After C.J. Walker made two free throws to narrow the Pirates’ deficit to 48-42, Ugusuk and Thomas each drained two 3-pointers, propelling a 17-3 run that cemented a 62-45 advantage with eight minutes remaining.

Leading the Gamecocks was Thomas, who made five 3-pointers and tallied 22 points. Murray-Boyles also had an outstanding game, finishing with 20 points on a perfect 10-for-10 shooting night and collecting 10 rebounds. Zachary Davis contributed 10 points, while Nick Pringle matched his effort on the boards with 10 rebounds. Overall, South Carolina concluded the game with a shooting efficiency of 54% from the field (27-for-50) and 12 of 23 from 3-point territory.

On the opposing side, Jordan Riley stood out for East Carolina, scoring 18 points. RJ Felton added 15 points along with five rebounds, three assists, and two steals, while C.J. Walker chipped in 14 points and six rebounds.
