Brandon Noel’s impressive performance, scoring 26 points, played a key role in Wright State’s 80-72 victory over Detroit Mercy on Saturday.
Noel also contributed with seven rebounds, helping the Raiders to a record of 6-5 overall and 1-1 in the Horizon League. Jack Doumbia was another standout for Wright State, netting 21 points with a shooting accuracy of 50%, going 8 of 16 from the field and 5 of 6 from the free-throw line, in addition to grabbing 13 boards and blocking three shots. Alex Huibregste added to the scoreboard with 17 points, going 5 of 10 overall and hitting 2 of 6 from beyond the arc, while finishing a perfect 5 for 5 from the free-throw line, also providing six assists.
On the other side, the Titans, who are now 5-6 overall and 1-1 in the league, had Orlando Lovejoy leading their scoring with 14 points alongside seven rebounds, four assists, and two steals. Nate Johnson contributed 12 points to the cause, while Grant Gondrezick II chipped in with 11 points and two steals as well.
Wright State will be looking to continue their momentum into their next matchup against Marshall on Wednesday at home. Meanwhile, Detroit Mercy is set to hit the road to take on Davidson on Saturday.
