KINGSTON, R.I. — In a thrilling matchup on Saturday, Rhode Island managed to overcome Providence with a final score of 69-63, thanks in large part to Sebastian Thomas, who delivered an impressive performance by scoring 19 points.

Thomas recorded a shooting line of 7 for 14, including 3 for 5 from beyond the arc, and made 2 of 3 free-throw attempts. His contributions were crucial in maintaining the Rams’ unbeaten streak, bringing their record to 9-0. Alongside him, Jaden House added an important 18 points, accompanied by five rebounds. David Green made notable contributions too, finishing the game with 12 points after hitting 4 for 11 from the field (1 for 3 from three-point territory). Green also pulled down eight rebounds and blocked three shots.

On the other side, Providence’s top scorer was Bryce Hopkins, who ended the game with 16 points, along with eight rebounds and three steals. His teammate, Bensley Joseph, matched his output with 16 points and contributed two steals. Additionally, Jayden Pierre stepped up for the Friars, scoring 12 points and recording three steals.

Though Rhode Island had a strong start, House’s all-out effort, with 14 points in the first half, was not enough to give the Rams the lead as they entered halftime down by seven points, trailing 35-28. However, Thomas turned things around remarkably during the second half, scoring 17 points and guiding Rhode Island to secure a six-point victory in the end.

Looking ahead, both teams will be back in action on Tuesday. Rhode Island will face off against Brown, while Providence is set to take on DePaul in an away game.
