OMAHA, Neb. — Creighton University has announced that guard Pop Isaacs will have surgery that will end his season due to a persistent hip issue, as confirmed by head coach Greg McDermott on Saturday.
During the current season, Isaacs has been a standout player, averaging 16.4 points per game. His performance peaked recently when he scored a remarkable 27 points during the Bluejays’ impressive 76-63 victory over the top-ranked Kansas Jayhawks, where he also matched his career record by sinking six 3-pointers.
A junior hailing from Las Vegas, Isaacs joined Creighton this year after transferring from Texas Tech, where he led the team with an average of 15.8 points per game the previous season.
Isaacs had previously undergone hip surgery last spring, which caused him to miss the opening game of the season against UT Rio Grande Valley because of residual soreness. He managed to put up 25 points in games against Nebraska and Texas A&M, both of which ended in losses for Creighton.
The news about Isaacs’ season-ending surgery was first reported by Field of 68.
