Manchester City’s attempts to defend their Premier League title faced another setback on Saturday as they settled for a 2-2 draw against Crystal Palace.
Despite ending a streak of seven matches without a win by securing a victory over Nottingham Forest earlier in the week, City failed to maintain momentum as they dropped crucial points at Selhurst Park.
The situation could have deteriorated further for the visiting side, as Crystal Palace managed to take the lead on two occasions during the match.
Currently, Pep Guardiola’s squad finds itself in fourth place in the league standings, trailing eight points behind the table-toppers Liverpool, who have a game in hand due to their derby match with Everton being postponed because of inclement weather.
Aston Villa emerged victorious in their match against the bottom-placed Southampton, winning 1-0, which places them fifth, while Brentford secured a notable 4-2 win over Newcastle.
