Honda has announced a recall affecting almost 206,000 SUVs in the United States due to a significant safety concern. The issue involves the fuel filler neck potentially disconnecting from the filler pipe during a collision, which could lead to gasoline leakage and a heightened risk of fire.

This recall pertains to specific models of the 2023 and 2024 Honda Passport, as well as select 2023 through 2025 Honda Pilot vehicles. According to documentation submitted to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, a fault in the installation procedure resulted in an inadequate connection between the fuel neck and the pipe.

Honda has reported that since December 2018 until November 20 of this year, there has been only one warranty claim linked to this issue and no injuries have been documented. It is important to note that the recall documents did not indicate any incidents of fire related to this problem.

To address the issue, Honda dealerships will conduct inspections on the affected SUVs, and if necessary, they will properly secure the neck tube to the fuel filler pipe. Owners of the affected vehicles can expect to receive notification letters starting January 6.
